House was officially renewed for an eighth season on May 10, 2011.[3] It premiered on October 3, 2011.[2] It is the first season not to feature Lisa Edelstein as Dr. Lisa Cuddy.[4] Olivia Wilde (Dr. Remy "Thirteen" Hadley) has also left the show following the 3rd episode, in order to further her film career.[5] David Shore said that it is unknown at this point whether the eighth season is going to be the last, though many expect it to be the final season.[5]
