Burnbrae Farms - Burnbrae Farms is a Canadian producer and processor of eggs, supplying grocery store chains, the food service industry, large bakeries and industrial customers. The company has farms in Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba, grading stations across the country (with the exception of Atlantic Canada) and processing operations in Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba.

Burnbrae Farms won the 2009 Canadian Grand Prix New Product Awards from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.[1]

In January 2010, the Ontario government invested in Burnbrae Farms through the Eastern Ontario Development Fund.[2]

Burnbrae Farms forayed into the US market by purchasing Vermont Egg Farm in Highgate, Vermont.[3]

Burnbrae Farms continues to increase its carbon footprint.[4]

Timeline

1893 – Joseph Hudson purchases a farm in Lyn, Ontario and names it Burnbrae.

1922 – Joseph Arthur Hudson inherits the farm – mainly a dairy farm.

1939 – Grant Hudson joins his father in running the farm.

1943 – Joe Hudson becomes involve in poultry.

1948 – The number of laying hens has increased to 3000.

1952 – The first laying Barn is built.

1956 – The Barn is expended to 20,000.

1973 – Plant to break, pasteurise and package eggs is built in Lyn.

1974 – Land is purchased in St-Zotique, Quebec.

1978 – Maple Lynn Foods is purchased in Strathroy, Ontario.

1983 – Burnbrae acquires Bec-O in Upton, Quebec.

1996-1997 – Operation is expanded into Manitoba.

2001 – Grading station added in Calgary, Alberta.

2006 – Sole Manufacturing rights to premium omelette.

2007 – Purchase of Island Eggs on Vancouver Island.

2007 – New further processing plant built in Sackville, New Brunswick.[citation needed]
