Appearance
A tree growing in arid climates with a number of uses as a food staple and a basis for folk remedies.
As a food staple its leaves are highly nutritious, a source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, calcium and potasium.
In Jamaica, it is used for a blue dye.
In Africa and India, its seed pods are pickled and eaten, and its oil used for cooking.
