British Rail and Northern Line serve Balham being on separate platforms. The station is in Zone 3.

The British Rail track divides to the south of Balham, towards Crystal Palace, Croydon, and Mitcham Junction: to the north is Wandsworth Common.

Balham tube station is a short walk away and lies on the Northern line between Clapham South and Tooting Bec.

Opened 1863. Known initially as Balham and Upper Tooting.
