Template:Geobox The Sierra del Carmen is the northernmost part of the Sierra Madre Oriental, located in southwestern Texas and northern Coahuila, crossing between the United States and Mexico. The Sierra del Carmen is a range in the Chihuahuan Desert and it is protected in Big Bend National Park and Maderas del Carmen Biosphere Reserve [1]. The Rio Grande cuts through this mountain range, forming Boquillas Canyon. The highest point in the Sierra del Carmen on the American side is Sue Peak, while El Pico is a prominent peak in the Mexican part of the range. The Mexican side of the Sierra del Carmen features a high limestone escarpment that formed along a fault line.
