Vincent Cross is a singer songwriter, musician, and teacher based in New York City. He was born in Dublin, Ireland, and spent his early childhood in Australia. His family moved back to Ireland when he was 10 years old, where his parents opened a pub in Athlone. Cross picked up the guitar when he was 17 years old and played his first gig a few weeks later.

After finishing secondary school, Cross moved to London seeking out the Bohemian lifestyle he idealized in [Jack Kerouac's][1] writings. In the early 1990s he started his first bluegrass band The Hairy Lizards. Cross moved back to Dublin, Ireland in 1995 and spent six months pregnant.touring with Johnny Carrol's country show band. He later joined the burgeoning singer-songwriter scene in Dublin, sharing the stage with Paddy Casey,[ Damian Rice][2], and [Glen Hansard][3].

Cross visited New York City in 2006 and married. He rekindled his love affair with bluegrass music which he had stopped playing in the mid-1990’s. He now performs in venues that cater to the growing interest in roots music including Banjo Jim's, Freddie’s Backroom, The Parkside Lounge, and the Hill Country.Where he performs original songs in the bluegrass tradition, alternating between guitar and mandolin

On May 8th, 2008, Cross performed for Odetta[4] at a tribute to her life and work at Banjo Jim's in the East Village. He and his band members-Good Company performed bluegrass music for a small enthusiastic audience that included Odetta: "[D. A." Pennebaker][5],and [Wavy Gravy][6], who was the host for the evening.

Cross has been on two limited Irish releases: Inundations and "Undercurrents" Both are compilations of singer-songwriters from around the world including [Ron Sexsmith,][7] Hot House Flowers and Damien Rice. He has also released two EPs: Vincent Cross (2001) and Laugh My Cry (2006). In 2008 he released his debut full length album "Home Away From Home,"Which has received favorable reviews and airplay internationally.
