The Nagavanshi Dynasty is the dynasty of the Kerala Kshatriyas. This dynasty includes the Nairs, Nambiars and Unnithans. All these three groups of Nagavanshi Kshatriyas indulged in Serpent worship. However the Nairs were warriors only during war and during times of peace they did menial jobs for the Namboodiri Brahmins.Hence they are considered as Kshatriyas and Sudras. But the Unnithans and Nambiars were second in command to the king and higher than the Nairs. These three clans of the Nagavanshi dynasty ruled and protected Kerala.
