Council of Friends
The Council of Friends, together with the Council of Fifty and the Priesthood (Latter Day Saints) of the restored Church founded by Joseph Smith in the early 18th century, formed a triumvirate body, which was to be the basis of a World Government (Mormonism) during the end times. [1]
Smith envisioned that this 'Council of Friends', would serve in an advisory capacity to the 'Council of Fifty' and the 'Priesthood'. Jethro in rabbinic literature, served as an advisor to Moses, the the 'Council of Friends' were to provide useful advice to the 'Council of Fifty' and the 'Priesthood' in much the same way. [2][3]
As advisors, the 'Council of Friends' would serve as the base of the governing body, but possessed no real political authority.
