Fumito Ueda is a Japanese video game designer. Ueda was the director and lead designer of the PlayStation 2 video games Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Both games have certain degree of cult status among gamers.

Ueda's productions are distinguished by a severe economy of plot and scenario, illustrated with overexposed, desaturated light and sparse dialog. This approach, described by Ueda as "design by subtraction," lends his work an existential tone.

Ueda's next project will likely be a game for the PlayStation 3, although he has expressed interest in the PlayStation Portable platform.

Ueda also once worked for now-defunct video game developer WARP.
