L Dunnellon High School serves a diverse student body from rural Marion County. Due to its location Marion County Public Schools has agreements with Levy and Citrus counties schools to provided transportation and allowed students from Levy and citrus county to attend Dunnellon High School. an It it home of Progress Energy Power Generation Academy. The program is funded by a $20,000 grant from a Progress Energy administered by the Public Education Foundation of Marion County.[1]. A The student population of 1400 is 52% majority and 48% minority. Which has more minorities than any High School in Marion County. Dunnellon High School provide a comprehensive education for students in grades 9 through 12.[2] The school also has an Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) program. They are also know was winning back to back Class 4A state softball championships [3]
Student Support Programs
Dunnellon High School offers a variety of Vocational classes such as Medical Skills, Business, Culinary Arts, Agriculture, Construction, Child Development, Video Production, Fashion Design, Health Occupations, Power Generation, and a Community Based Vocational Training program. Through such programs Dunnellon High School is able to offer students of all ability levels the opportunity to receive in-depth focused training and possible industry certification. These programs are designed to add relevance to all subject content through its authentic application in real world problem solving settings within each vocational area of interest. Each applied program consists of a series of courses, upon completion of which students take an industry certification exam. In addition, the Power Generation teacher has been trained by The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education Coalition.
