Joshua Sutton Underhill was one of the earliest Presidents of The United States Fire Insurance Company of New York and served until his death in 1858. I'm looking for the actual year and situation concerning his election.
Joshua was succeeded by his brother Abraham Sutton Underhill who served until his death of stomach cancer in 1881.
Abraham was suceeded by his nephew W. Wilson Underhill, the company's secretary since 1865, and served until his retirement in 1908.
There is no found record showing that Arthur Underhill, a landscape architect and W. Wilson's son, was ever an employee, much less President, of this or any insurance company. This in response to the dubious claim made in the original article creation.
