Requests for registration

Please read the guide on the main page before requesting permission. In applying for AWB access, you indicate that you will abide by its terms.

Also, this page is for requesting AWB Access for this wiki (English Wikipedia) only. Other projects have their own check pages and you should ask administrators there to add you.

Please add your name to the bottom of the list using *{{AWBUser|your username}} ~~~~~. Enter your user name exactly as it is, do not add underscores instead of spaces or change the case of the first letter.

If the list contains undecided entries that are over 48 hours old, please add {{Admin backlog}} to the top of this page.

Note that users with under 500 mainspace non-automated edits are rarely approved. You only need to give a reason for wanting AWB access if you have fewer than 500 mainspace non-automated edits.

If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage.

Users

You don't yet have 500 edits in the article namespace (the red portion on the pie chart). What would you like to do with AWB? Tyrol5 [Talk] 12:52, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Myself, I would wait for the almost 48h lag to be fixed before reviewing the user. ~ ⇒TomTomN00 @ 20:17, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Toolserver wasn't lagging when I reviewed the editor's contribs two days ago. Tyrol5 [Talk] 22:02, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Please wait for the lag to be fixed. I've definitely crossed 500 in the article namespace. I want to try out AWB if it helps in editing faster than my current method of editing. --Msrag (talk) 13:19, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies if I wasn't clear above. Again, there was no replication lag on Toolserver when I processed the request back on Monday. But, I'll let another administrator make a call here. Tyrol5 [Talk] 19:12, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Not done Recent concerns expressed on your talk page about hasty/incorrect tagging of articles are of relevance here. Try to slow down when tagging articles and ensure you're tagging them correctly, and you should be approved for AWB without trouble. I'd probably wait for a month or so before requesting again, assuming editors aren't concerned any longer about tagging inaccuracy/haste. Tyrol5 [Talk] 19:28, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Note: this is always brought up on my requests, even though it has been delt with on the Administrators Noticeboard, then archived. At this rate these declines will probaly go on for quite a long time. ~ ⇒TomTomN00 @ 20:13, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'd suggest you merely heed the advice given to you by other editors. Just slow down and be careful; accuracy and quality of taggings are very much preferred to quantity/promptness. Take your time, be careful and if you're not sure, ask! If you do and address the concerns expressed by editors through your editing habits, you won't be declined because of them. Tyrol5 [Talk] 21:17, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I've seen you request adminship on MediaWiki.org and the Simple English Wikipedia; Rome wasn't built overnight.Jasper Deng (talk) 22:04, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Again, people are bringing up old incidents which have been dealt with on the Administrators Noticeboard, and using them to pick my rights. ~ ⇒TomTomN00 @ 19:06, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
What about this from less than two weeks ago? These concerns expressed to you personally about hasty and inaccurate article tagging are too concerning for me. I'd rather another administrator weigh-in, however. Tyrol5 [Talk] 19:31, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As I say again, dealt with on the noticeboard. ~ ⇒TomTomN00 @ 20:55, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I understand what you're saying, but simply having the issues dealt with at the Administrators' Noticeboard isn't enough. You should improve yourself and be more careful. The fact that the concerns were brought forward at AN doesn't nullify them; the fact that they were brought forward (to you personally and at AN) and as recently as they were brought forward concerns me. I'd really prefer it if you took some time to improve yourself and heed the advice of the users who've approached you, and that's why I declined your request. If you take the time to carefully improve, your future requests for access to tools won't be declined out of prejudice regarding these concerns. You're welcome to wait for comment from another administrator, though, as I've invited above. Tyrol5 [Talk] 21:08, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, I agree with Tyrol5. AWB is a powerful tool that may cause a massive mess if misused even with the best intentions and you seem to sometimes act too rashly. To grant you the ability to use AWB would therefore be unwise, in my opinion. And the WP:IDHT attitude is not encouraging either... Salvio Let's talk about it! 22:01, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
