Joseph Drake (also credited as Joe Drake) is founder and CEO of Mandate Pictures, an independent entertainment company dedicated to the financing, development and production of filmed entertainment.[1] Drake has been the driving force since launching the company (previously Senator International) in 2005, which aims to deliver broad-appeal films to studios and major independents worldwide. [1]

Career

Joe Drake served as Senior Vice President of International Theatrical at Rysher Entertainment prior to joining Lionsgate International.[2] At his post as President of Lionsgate International in 1998, Drake structured that division to be a premier supplier of theatrical feature films to the independent world.[2]He oversaw worldwide sales and distribution of Lionsgate’s international programming and championed such projects as Nicolas Cage’s Shadow of The Vampire, the highly controversial American Psycho and the Academy Award® and Golden Globe® nominee Amores Perros.[3]

When Lionsgate acquired Mandate Pictures in 2007, Drake returned to his old stomping grounds as President of the Motion Picture Group and Co-Chief Operating Officer of Lionsgate.[4] He had oversight of all areas of its theatrical production, distribution, and marketing, domestic and international feature film acquisition and international theatrical operations, the home entertainment releases of theatrical feature films, as well as joint responsibility for its corporate budgeting, planning and strategic growth initiatives.[5] In January 2012, Joe Drake stepped down from his post following Lionsgate’s acquisition of Summit Entertainment. Drake will remain at Lionsgate in order to shepherd the theatrical launch of Hunger Games, as he played such a pivotal role in acquiring, developing and building the franchise. [6]

Drake is also an original founder of Ghost House Pictures with legendary filmmaker Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Nathan Kahane. [7]
