Ashlee Nicole Simpson (born October 3, 1984) is an American singer, actress and the younger sister of Jessica Simpson.

Simpson has played the character Cecilia on the television show 7th Heaven since 2002; it was announced in June 2004 that she will end that role. She was also a dancer in her sister's concerts. Simpson's own music career began with the recording of her first album, Autobiography, which was released on July 20, 2004.

Her first single is the song "Pieces of Me", which she has said was written about her boyfriend, Ryan Cabrera. She also sings about living in the "Shadow" of her sister's dreams and accomplishments.

Simpson is the subject of a reality show on MTV, The Ashlee Simpson Show, which debuted on June 16, 2004 and deals with the process of creating the album. The theme song to this televison show is Autobiography, which is off her debut album.

Ashlee wanted to have the opposite image to her sister. She became a brunette, and sings more "rock" or maybe even "punk" songs than her sister, who sings ballad pop songs.
