French Federation of Go
Appearance
The French Go Federation (FFG) is a french association (depending on the 1901 law about association) that was founded in 1978. It had obtained the "popular education and youth agreement" by the "Ministry of Health, Youth, Sport and Associative Life" in february 1991.
The FFG is a member of the "Mind Games and Leisure Activities Confederation" (CLE) (a french conferation) since 1983 and of the European Go Federation.
Organisation
In october 2008, the FFG was composed of 110 clubs, constituing a total of more then 1650 licenced players.
The FFG is divided into 9 regional leagues :
- Ligue Rhône-Alpes (main towns : Lyon, Grenoble)
- Ligue Île-de-France (Paris, its suburbs and Orleans, Auxerre, Chartres area)
- Ligue de l'Ouest (Brittany and close areas)
- Ligue de Normandie (Normandy area)
- Ligue du Sud-Ouest (Aquitaine and a part of the south-west part of France)
- Ligue du Centre (main towns : Clermont-Ferrand, Saint-Etienne, Dijon)
- Ligue Méditerranée (the biggest part of Mediterranee coast : Marseille, Montpellier)
- Ligue de l'Est (Alsace, Lorraine)
- Ligue du Grand Nord (North part of France including Picardy, Ardennes)
Events
The FFG takes care of the organisation of national events and some events to international players, for example :
- French Go Championship
- French Go Team Championship called "Coupe Maître Lim"
- French Pair-go Championship
- Paris Go Tournament
History
- 1970 : Creation of the French Go Association. First French Championship organized.
- 1978 : The French Go Association became the French Go Federation following the will of the clubs to be federalized. Creation of the French Go Magazine (Revue Française de Go)
- 1985 : Creation of the leagues to develop the local developpement
- 1991 : The FFG obtained the agreement of the Ministry
