Interstate 110 (I-110) is an 8.89-mile (14.31 km) spur route in Baton Rouge, running from Interstate 10 in the city's downtown area north to US 61 and the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport in the northern part of the city. The freeway serves as the border between what is considered downtown Baton Rouge and mid-city Baton Rouge.
Route description
Interstate 110 consists of several outdated features such as ramps that exit from the left side of the roadway.
History
The first section completed was part of the Baton Rouge Expressway that included the notorious Governor's Mansion Curve and spanned from Florida Street to Plank Road in the mid 1950s. The final section was completed in the 1980s when the interstate was extended from Harding Boulevard and the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport to Scenic Highway. It was officially named the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Expressway by the Louisiana Legislature during the late 1990s.
