St Machan

St Machan was a saint who travelled around the area of Campsie (near Glasgow) telling people about christianity during the Dark Ages. After travels to Italy and Ireland, at the foot of [[1]] he erected a small chapel used an adjacent well for baptisms. When he died, he was buried at the site and a parish church was put over his grave in 1175.
