Trivia Robot staring in an episode of Time Trotters

Trivia Robot is a fictional character who appears frequently in a variety of video productions on the popular gaming website Gamespot. Speaking in a digital electric monotone, Trivia Robot originally rose to prominence as the character who would answer viewer mail sent in to the weekly webcast show On The Spot, often in a sarcastic, irreverent, or desultory fashion designed for amusement.

Trivia Robot's greatest notoriety, however, comes from his integral role on GameSpot's hit web series Time Trotters. Appearing in all but a handful of episodes, Trivia Robot's somewhat unbalanced psyche is offset by his many invaluable skills, particularly the ability to compile information from databanks around the world to determine which classic videogames require preservation, and to scan the timestream for discrepancies. In the series, Trivia Robot is said to have the ability to float or fly under his own power, but one of the running gags is that there's always some new excuse why he can't do so at the moment.

Some other memorable Trivia Robot moments in Time Trotters include:

  • In the premiere episode "All Your Base," he was able to scan the ruins of the Helman Compound and identify a piece of broken technology which appeared to be from a different time. This provided the Time Trotters a rationale for trotting back in time to save Jeff Gerstmann's life.
  • In "Garriot'cha," Rich Gallup suddenly discovers that one of his earlier missions accidentally erased legendary game designer Richard Garriott from history. Trivia Robot is confronted on why he never brought this to anyone's attention, he responded that it had simply never come up.
  • Trivia Robot is highlighted in the show's opening credits from the twelfth episode forward. Homer Rabara, who plays a role on the show which is arguably more significant, remains credited as a guest star throughout the entire first season.
  • At the end of "Minus World Pt. 2," Trivia Robot is seconds away from explaining away a critical hole in the plot when he suddenly screams "BLRZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT!", emits a few curls of smoke, and shuts down. Jeff Gerstmann exclaims, "That's our Trivia Robot!" and the whole group enjoys a hearty laugh amid the smell of burning circuitry.
  • When a severe equipment malfunction traps the Time Trotter staff in almost complete darkness in "Level Up," Trivia Robot excites everyone by offering to project an entertaining hologram. Everyone gathers around in anticipation, but when the "hologram" turns out to be a tiny dancing red dot, Trivia Robot defiantly exclaims, "Well, my cat loves it!" So does Alex Navarro who begins furiously trying to catch the dot a moments later.
