According to the book of Genesis Joseph who was sold into Egypt became a slave in Potiphar's house. He was trusted by Potipher and rose to prominent leadership in Potipher's house. His wife tried to seduce him though day after day yet he resisted. He even ran out of the house and she grabbed his loins.

She then lied to Potiphar and said he raped her. Potipher knowing Joseph's character obviously knew the truth or suspected it. he could of executed Joseph but chose more lenient punishment of prison. Joseph rose to prominence there while in there and was trusted by prison guard.

It is obvious that if it was rape her garments and not his would be there and not torn if rape was attempted.

Today a false accuser or seducer of sex crimes can sometimes be referred to as a potipher's wife.
