Carey is a village located in Wyandot County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 3,901.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 5.1 km² (2.0 mi²). 5.1 km² (2.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.51% is water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 3,901 people, 1,543 households, and 1,023 families residing in the village. The population density was 764.6/km² (1,977.6/mi²). There were 1,607 housing units at an average density of 315.0/km² (814.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 96.41% White, 0.15% African American, 0.10% Native American, 1.74% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.85% from other races, and 0.74% from two or more races. 1.38% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 1,543 households out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.6% were married couples living together, 13.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.7% were non-families. 29.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 3.07.

In the village the population was spread out with 26.9% under the age of 18, 9.9% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 93.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.6 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $33,116, and the median income for a family was $40,921. Males had a median income of $30,938 versus $22,123 for females. The per capita income for the village was $15,309. 8.6% of the population and 4.6% of families were below the poverty line. 8.5% of those under the age of 18 and 9.2% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.

Carey is predominently Catholic. The National Shrine of Our Lady can be found here. There is an annual gathering of Catholics from around the country. During this gathering, chanting can be heard even from across town.

Sluts

It's widely known by people in Upper Sandusky that the girls in Carey are sluts. It's a risk to sleep with them, however, as many have various sexually transmitted diseases.
