Nichya (Ничья in Russian Cyrillic; translates as "No one's"), is a singing/songwriting/producing duet made up of Elena Kiper and Oleg Borschevskiy. The have released two singles and one album so far in their blossoming career.

Career

While undergoing a procedure at the dentist office, Elena Kiper had an idea. She was working closely with good friend producer Ivan Shapovolav on a project that would soon change the face of Russian pop: but it needed an image. What did she come up with? Two girls in love, fighting for acceptance.

Soon after this idea, Kiper and Shapovolav started working on what is now known as t.A.T.u. in early 2000. With writing credits up both their sleeves, they began working on seperate songs that the group could record. From Kiper's side came three songs: "Ya Soshla S Uma", "Nas Ne Dagoniat", and finally "Ya Ne Glotat". These three individual songs would all become hits, but only two would be for t.A.T.u. After recording "Ya Ne Glotat" with Shapovolav in a rap/techno version of the song, the audio was thrown out for t.A.T.u. and put aside in Kiper's mind. However, this song would launch the career of another band in the nearing future...

As t.A.T.u. rose to fame in Russia, Europe, and finally the United States, tensions grew between Shapovolav and Kiper over how t.A.T.u. should be produced and portrayed. Fighting over ideas and credits, Kiper and Shapovolav decided to make the professional split, and Kiper went on her own way in the music business. Though she had been established as a successful producer and writer, Kiper wanted something more: she wanted her own band, and that's exactly what she set out to do. With "Ya Ne Glotat" in her hand, and musical talents beyond compare, Kiper set out to create her own musical genre.

Oleg Borschevskiy, a Russian soloist making his way through Europe, was the first person Kiper called to work on her new project. Together, the would write, produce, and direct not only themselves into fame, but other artists as well. In 2002, they rerecorded "Ya Ne Glotat" in a pop techno sound that soon became to be known as "Nichya", which shared the name of the band they would soon create.

As their talents combined into song, Kiper and Borschevskiy released "Nichya" on their single "Nachinay Menya" in 2003 to eastern European dance clubs and on internet radio stations. The song was an instant hit. To compliment the success of the Russian song, Nichya then recorded the English version of "Nichya" called "Pain to Choose". This song not only garnered them more fame and publicity, but exposed them to the English speaking world as well.

With "Nachinay Menya" under their belt, Kiper and Borschevskiy moved on to the next step: a full blown album. On August 30th, 2004, Nichya released their first album, "Navsegda". With ten amazing emotional tracks and two wonderful remixes as bonuses, "Navsegda" hit the best sellers chart in 2004 and became an instant success for the band. On October 1st, 2004, Nichya released their second single, "Nikomu.Nikogda" to the music world.

With a successful album, several singles, and chart toping dance remixes, Nichya is well on their way to success.
