Karkonosze (German: Riesengebirge, Czech: Krkonose) is part of Sudeten Mountains in central Europe. It stretches from north-west to south-east and forms the border between Poland and Czech. The highest mountain is Snezka in Czech (1602m). Huge Areas of Karkonosze Mountains are preserved as national park. Karkonosze is famous for its skiing resorts and faces growing importance as alternative to the Alps for tourism.
