Automatic Backup a free for commercial or personal use backup software that automatically or unattended will save your important data. From the beginning the idea of backup software was a key chore in computers, now unattended backup gained importance as the volume of data grew, and users forget to backup computers. Automatic Backup or just simply ABS, was born to tackle 2 issues, simple and automatic! written in VB.NET with the aim to be really small, portable and powerful in terms of features. History

Automatic Backup was originally released in 2006. The idea was to create a full furnished Backup Solution^[2] written in VB.NET with the smallest package possible, with a form factor of a portable application ^[3]. The original released version 1.0.0 was published in 2006 at free download sites Download.com^[4], the same year received several updates to the version 1.2.0. The project got noticeable this year as it got to be in the first page of the Google,Yahoo with the "Automatic Backup" key word search. The project expects to gain momentum possible interest and attract more developers.

Features

Automatic Backup supports USB, LAN Shared resource/folder, FTP, compression (Zip, encryption (including Rijndael, RSA-Rijndael^{[clarification needed]}), incremental. The software is portable, which means can be executed from a USB memory, may also be installed as an application.

Extended Features

Incremental(only backup what's new) Backup(local drives, USB, Shared drives, FTP). Zip Backup and reduce the size of the copy. Encryption (Military 256bits encryption Rijndael NOT just a standard DES).Time-Machine (ABS will keep up to 10 versions of the same file). Restore (Zip, FTP and local/remote share folders). Schedule (hourly, daily, monthly and yearly). Sync Folders (both-ways, only source, only destination). Live Update. Software will check every 45 days at start up. Advance configurations (only IT/Advance users). Automatic Launch a backup when the last USB drive used for backup is inserted. Uniquely Identify USB drive even if the attached letter is different.

ABS, allows users to configure and schedule regular backup routines, for instance an incremental backup every night (which backs-up files changed since the last full/incremental backup).
