Catherine Kaye "Cat" Greenleaf (born March 13, 1972, White Plains, New York) is host of NBC’s Emmy Award- winning series "Talk Stoop with Cat Greenleaf". Celebs, performers, and newsmakers come to Cat's stoop in Brooklyn and sit for a 15-20 minute interview covering career highlights, life story, issues of the day and current projects. Musical guests’ appearances include performances of their latest singles and hits. Some guests then join Cat in the kitchen to answer questions exclusively for the iVillage.com series, Kitchen Confessions.
Greenleaf's signature look of sneakers with everything goes right along with the causal atmosphere she gives her show. In an interview with Better Homes and Gardens, Greenleaf said, "...Vogue contributing editor Andre Leon Tally gave them his stamp of approval, saying that they were an American classic, just like me. His words gave me the confidence to be myself."
Greenleaf started her career as an airborne traffic reporter for KGO radio in San Francisco in 1999. The next year she moved back to the East Coast and reported traffic on NY1, which segued into hard news reporting for RNN TV in Queens, NY. NYC TV took notice of Greenleaf and gave her a shot doing her own lifestyle segment called On the Prowl with Cat Greenleaf, which was a self produced weekly spot, humorously highlighting the unique activities, characters, and quirky traits that defined New York City.
These new sharp pieces were a hit and moved Cat on to hosting a national daily spot as a “roving craft reporter” on DiY Network’s Craftlab. Her upbeat jaunts into cities across the country led first to host her own show on the Travel Channel, Vacation Home Search, and then to hosting a second travel show on Treasure HD, Chasing History Home.
Cat moved over to WNBC, where her main gig was the station’s Features Reporter, primarily on Today in New York, and the 11 O’clock News. Her spots were seen on affiliates around the nation, as well as on the national Weekend Today Show, the New York Non-Stop channel, and in all the WNBC taxi cabs around New York City.
Shortly after the birth of her first son, Greenleaf began living the ultimate dream for a working mother: shooting a show on her front steps. Talk Stoop was born, and is now airing in nine cities (NY, DC, Chicago, Philly, Miami, Dallas, LA, San Francisco, and San Diego). Between broadcast, digital, and out-of-home platforms like screens in cabs and on gas pumps across the country, Talk Stoop is viewed nearly 13 million times a week. iVillage.com, which hosts her segment Kitchen Confessions, boasts 28 millions uniques/month.
Alongside her work on Talk Stoop, Cat co-hosts the radio show Your Weekend with Jim Brickman, which reaches a million listeners across the country. Greenleaf is also deeply committed to LUST. This is cleaner than it sounds! LUST is an acronym for Look Up Stop Texting. She began a small accessories line, LUSTbklyn.com, to remind us all (mainly herself) to stop texting, start living. LUST has been sold at Macy’s in NYC and Fred Segal in LA. LUSTbklyn has a handbag line coming out later this year. Greenleaf has been featured in magazines including Better Homes and Gardens, Emmy Magazine, and The New York Observer Playground, The New York Times, The NY Daily News, and The New York Post, and written for Glamour and Redbook magazines.
She currently resides in Brooklyn, NY with her husband, a tv producer, two young sons who are unemployed, and two dogs who are beloved tv stars of the stoop!
