The Minnesota Journal of International Law, formerly known as The Minnesota Journal of Global Trade, is an international law journal that is published by students at University of Minnesota Law School.[1] The journal is dedicated to the study of international law and policy, and it is published twice a year.

The Minnesota Journal of International Law was founded as the Minnesota Journal of Global Trade in 1992 by a group of students at the University of Minnesota Law School spearheaded by founding editor Daniel L. M. Kennedy.[2] In collaboration with the faculty at the Law School, the students running the journal have striven to provide a platform for presenting current scholarship concerning legal issues arising from global trade. In 2006, the journal was renamed the Minnesota Journal of International Law and has subsequently broadened its scope to include international legal issues beyond trade. However, the journal does maintain a tradition of emphasizing international trade. In 2009, the journal expanded to include an online format in addition to the print format.[3] The online format strives to produce original short form, timely legal scholarship.

The journal hosts biennial symposiia to discuss pressing issues in international law. In 2010, the law school and journal collaborated with American Society of International Law and hosted ASIL's International Economic Law Interest Group's conference.[4] The conference was entitled "International Economic Law in a Time of Change." In February 2013, the journal will host a symposium entitled "The Future of Warfare: The Law of Tomorrow’s Battlefields."[5]
