Kaspars Astašenko (17 February 1975[1] – 20 November 2012[2]) was a Latvian professional ice hockey player. Astašenko was born in Riga, Latvia. He played for various European and American professional ice hockey teams from 1993 to 2011, including 23 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Tampa Bay Lightning from 1999 to 2001. He played for the Latvian national team in world championships in 2001 and 2006, as well as the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.[3][4]

Astašenko died the week of 20 November 2012.[3][5]
