Doug Parker
William Douglas Parker is the current chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the US Airways Group.
Parker has been with US Airways since June 1995, when he joined as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of America West Airlines. He additionally held titles as Executive Vice President, corporate group, and Chief Operating Officer before being elected Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of America West in September 2001.
He continued as CEO of US Airways following the merger with America West Airlines in 2005. Under his tenure as CEO, he made an unsuccessful bid to merge US Airways with Delta Air Lines in 2007, and with United Airlines in 2010.
In 2007, Doug Parker plead guilty to his third DUI and was sentenced to 1 day in prison.[1]. After his conviction, shareholders questioned if the company should have disclosed Parker's two previous DUI arrests. [2]
Before joining America West Airlines, Parker was at American Airlines[3] from 1986 to 1991, and was Vice President and Assistant Treasurer at Northwest Airlines from 1991 to 1995. On February 14, 2013, US Airways and American Airlines announced their long-anticipated merger, with Parker taking the CEO role in the combined company. [4]
Parker has a BA in Economics from Albion College (1984) and an MBA from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University (1986). He lives in Paradise Valley, Arizona with his wife, Gwen Parker, and three children.
In 2007 and 2008, Parker contributed over $10,000 to various Republican Party campaigns.
