Shay Raviv (born Haifa, Israel, 1982) is a contemporary musician and the co-founder of Violet Vision (with Jonathan Dagan aka J.Viewz). He is a composer, songwriter, and producer whose work has appeared on some of the top electronic albums in the world, including several Infected Mushroom albums. In addition to his work with Violet Vision, Shay has written film and TV scores and worked as a music supervisor for film and TV. Shay's music can be heard on shows such as House Of Lies and Eastwick and his music appeared on television networks such as Universal NBC, ABC, and Showtime. Shay relocated to Los Angeles California in 2005, where he opened his studio.
Music career
Shay started learning classical piano at the age of 6 and discovered electronic music at age 14. He became passionate about electronic music and started experimenting with synthesizers and samplers. By the time he was 16, he had a studio of his own. He recorded his first album with Jonathan Dagan aka J.Viewz as Violet Vision, First Sign Of Communication (2001), which was awarded as one of the top 5 albums of the year in Israel. With this album, Shay Raviv became a well-known name in the Israeli music scene and abroad and got signed to BNE records. At that time, BNE Records was a major producer of electronic music. Their main acts were Infected Mushroom, Cosma,[disambiguation needed]Space Cat and Violet Vision. Violet Vision released 3 full length albums and their tracks appeared on many electronic music labels around the world. They toured frequently internationally. After completing their third album with BNE, they parted ways and Shay moved to LA for a change and to follow his friend Erez Eisen from Infected Mushroom.
In LA, Shay took his passion for film music to UCLA where he studied Film Scoring and music business. He received the Jerry Goldsmith scholarship based on his music. After graduating from UCLA, he started working in composition for film and TV and as a music supervisor. He also continued his work as a song writer and music producer.
