Demetrius Edward Flenory[1] (born June 21, 1968[1] in Detroit[2]), better known in many Atlanta circles as "Big Meech",[3] is an American convicted drug trafficker, one of the two founding leaders of the Black Mafia Family drug trafficking organization.[4] At the height of his career, Flenory became one of the highest-earning black drug lord in US history.[4]

Career

Black Mafia Family

Flenory co-founded a drug distribution organization in Detroit in the late 1980s with his younger brother Terry "Southwest T" Flenory.[4] The organization, which became known as the Black Mafia Family shortly into the 21st century,[4] eventually extended as far as Los Angeles and Atlanta[5] and was involved in large-scale trafficking of cocaine throughout the United States from 1990 through 2005.[6]

2005 Arrest

Flenory was arrested in 2005 and had been sentenced to a total of 30 years by 2008 for drug trafficking and money laundering.[6] He is currently incarcerated in the USP Atlanta prison, with a projected release date of February 25, 2032.[7]
