CALNET is headquartered in Reston, Virginia, and has a branch office in San Diego, CA.[2][5][6][7] Kaleem Shah is the company’s current CEO and president.[7][2][8]

History

CALNET was founded in 1989 by Kaleem Shah as an IT and telecommunications consulting firm.[5][3][9] Shah brought a well-versed educational background to the table with a BS from Bangalore, India, in Electrical Engineering, an MS from Clemson University in Computer Engineering, and an MBA from The George Washington University in International Finance.[6]

After the terrorist attacks in the US on September 11, 2001, Shah decided to take the company in a different direction through focusing on federal contracts and working with the Department of Defense and other governmental organizations to aid in the war on terror.[3][5][7] In 2002, the CALNET's intelligence analysis and language services sectors were added to accommodate this business shift.[6]

In 2007, CALNET secured a $66 million contract with the Intelligence and Security Command, providing their linguist services at Guantanamo Bay.[5][6][7] In the same year, it also sealed another $104 million contract with the same organization to train military and defense personnel.

In 2009 CALNET won the FAA’s National Service Desk and Desk Side Support Services contract along with the Information Operations Advisory Task Force (Afghanistan) IDIQ contract with a $450 Million ceiling.[7] In 2010 CALNET was awarded the OMNIBUS III contract for providing Intelligence Analysis Services to INSCOM with a ceiling value of $492 Million. In 2012 CALNET is part of the team which won the $9.7 Billion IDIQ DLITE contract for providing linguist services worldwide.[5][6][7]

In 2013, CALNET became one of the hand full of companies in the world to be granted a CMMI Level 3 certification.Cite error: The <ref> tag has too many names (see the help page).[10]
