Farstad Shipping (OSE: FAR) is a supply shipping company based in Ålesund, Norway. As of April 2012, it operates 52 supply vessels.[1] The company is owned 46% by the Farstad family. Farstad's key activities are providing support services to offshore rigs and other offshore operations.[2] The company transports cargo throughout the North Sea, Far East, off-shore Brazil andWest Africa.[3]

History

The company dates back to 1956 when it started with tankers and bulk carriers. In 1973 the first offshore supply vessel was ordered followed by the acquisition of the Wilhelmsen fleet in 1986. Two years later the company was listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange and in 1989 it bought Seaforth Maritime.
