James Holmes is a West Midlands-born comedy actor,[1] best known for playing the character of Clive in the 2009 BBC sitcom Miranda.[2] After leaving school, he did a Youth Training Scheme working in the props department of the Belgrade Theatre Coventry. He has appeared in various off-West End and regional theatre productions, including playing Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest for the New Players Theatre and various roles in Catherine Tate's theatre comedy show.[3] Holmes trained at The Poor School in London.[4] He also had an appearance as a helpful Citizen's Advice volunteer in the TV series Psychoville. He once appeared in Dani's House as food critic Floyd Ackerman.

He also appeared briefly in Coronation Street.
