El estrangulador (1994) (English, The Strangler) is a novel from Manuel Vázquez Montalbán.
It is a complex work in which the main character -since his internment in a psychiatric hospital- remembers his own history, full with false or authentic clues which make the reader doubt about the veracity of everything what is being told.
With the strangler character, Vázquez Montalbán draws the prototype of the new man: unsupportive, victim and executioner of the principle that the man is a lunatic for the other man.
