Kevin Howarth is a British film and television actor, best known for dangerous leading roles, such as Max, the “smooth talking psychopath”[1] in The Last Horror Movie[2]; Peter, the mentally disturbed drifter in Summer Scars ; and Viktor, the psychotic brothel keeper in The Seasoning House. Howarth graduated with distinction from the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London, where he was a contemporary of actress Minnie Driver.

Early Life

Born Kevin Mark Smith in Meriden, a suburb of Coventry, Howarth was the youngest of six children of Betty (nee Gridley) and father Peter. His mother passed away when Kevin was one, leaving him and his siblings to be brought up by his paternal grandmother, Ada, while his father worked permanent nights as a machine shop inspector at Jaguar CarsBrowns Lane plant.

Education and Career

Kevin attended Hill Farm infant and junior school in Radford, Coventry, moving on to the President Kennedy School and Community College. On leaving school he studied mechanical engineering and general technology as an apprentice at Jaguar Cars. On completing his apprenticeship and feeling like a “fish out of water” he packed in his job and spent several years travelling, hitchhiking, drifting from job to job until he found himself living and working in Stratford-upon-Avon. It was a “defining moment” on an empty stage at the RSC’s Swan Theatre that would spur him on to become an actor. Seven months later he was awarded a place at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, from where he graduated with distinction.
