Following a stroke to both side of his brain (frontal lobe and temporal lobe), he is developed a new personality, a compulsion to paint and a affinity to prose.

This is quite a departure from his previous lifestyle as a builder.

He also experienced a identity crisis which is probably the impetus for his artistic outputs.

It is reported before his death that he is happy with his current condition.
