Hollyhock Retreat is a retreat located on the sunniest southeastern beach[1] of Cortes Island, British Columbia that offers a range of personal and spiritual development programs[2] on topics including animal communication,[3] relationships, nonviolent communication,[4] spiritual chanting,[4] Tibetan Buddhism,[3] Kabbalah,[5] yoga, morphic resonance,[3] holistic approaches for dealing with cancer,[3] integrative medicine,[3] leadership,[2] and social ventures.[3]

It was created in 1982 on the grounds of the former Cold Mountain Institute.[3]

The CEO is Dana Bass Solomon,[1][6] and the current volunteer president is her husband, Joel Solomon,[3] who has been referred to as part of the "Hollyhock mafia" that surrounds Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson.[7][8][9] Vancouver City Hall has been referred to as "Vancouver City Hollyhock" due to the number of people hired by the City of Vancouver who have connections to Hollyhock.[10][11]
