The genus Serrasalmus is used to group several species of piranha, including the Altuvie Piranha, Black Piranha, Brandti Piranha, Diamond Piranha, Eigenmanni Piranha, Elongatus Piranha, Gold Piranha, Irritan Piranha, Manuelli Piranha, Marginatus Piranha, Medinai Piranha, Sanchezi Piranha, Scapularis Piranha, Compressus Piranha, Hollandi Piranha.

These fish, among other characteristics, are predatory, have sharp teeth and have a rhomboid shape.

The adult size is 24 inches; one of the largest growing Piranha.
