Gillian Lucky

'Gillian Lucky, born 1967, is an Attorney-at-Law and currently the Director of the Police Complaints Authority of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.She is also the principal of the Academy of Tertiary Studies, a tertiary education institution. Gillian is a no-nonsense person dedicated to the welfare of the country. Throughout her professional life Gillian has always extolled the tenets of Integrity, Truth and Justice.

Education

Gillian attended Naparima Girls' High School for her secondary education. She graduated from the Faculty of Law at The University of the West Indies in 1989, where she was awarded the Therese Sylvester Prize for the Most Outstanding University Student - Cave Hil Campus.

Professional Life

Gillian Lucky has occupied the positions of Senior State Counsel at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions; Government Senator; Minister in the Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs, Opposition Member of Parliament and a Temporary High Court Judge. Gillian is currently the Director of the Police Complaints Authority; a columnist with the Trinidad and Tobago Guardian newspaper;and Principal of the Academy of Tertiary Studies (ATS).Gillian was also the chairman of the Omnibus Legislation Committee; Chairman of the Committee for the Regularization of the Home Video Industry and a Member of the Crime and Justice Commission.

Media Experience

Gillian has actively written as a columnist with the Trinidad and Tobago Guardian Newspaper. She is also the host of a television show, "Just Gill" on Ietv network which is centered on discussion of national issues and interests. In the past she has also co-hosted a radio segment, “Talk Time” on Radio 90.5FM, Gillian is also a former Presenter and Co-Executive Producer of the television programme, “Caribbean Tarang”.

Personal Life

Gillian Lucky is the daughter of Anthony Lucky and Cintra Lucky. She has three siblings, Cindy Ann Lucky, Elizabeth Lucky and Antonia Lucky. As a former competitive calypsonian, Gillian has presented her deeply rooted sense of national pride and patriotism through her works as well as her years of service to the State.
