The 2013 South Florida Bulls football team will represent the University of South Florida (USF) in the 2013 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The USF Bulls play their home games at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL. The 2013 college football season will be the 17th season overall for the Bulls, and their first season as a member of the American Athletic Conference. They will be led by first year head coach Willie Taggart after USF fired Skip Holtz at the conclusion of the 2012 season.[1] This season follows a season that saw the Bulls win their fewest games in program history (3).

Taggart's debut as the Bulls' head coach was marred by a 53–21 loss to lower division (FCS) McNeese State. It marked the worst margin of defeat by an upper division (FBS) team to an FCS team since Division I was split into FBS and FCS in 1978.[2] USF paid McNeese State $400,000 to play them; the Bulls prior record as an FBS team against FCS teams was 23–0.[3] USF was a 20.5 point favorite before the match.[2]
