Funnybones (Welsh: Y Sgerbydion) was a Welsh children's television series that was first aired in Welsh on S4C and in English on the BBC in 1992. It was based on the eponymous series of books by Janet and Allan Ahlberg which were illustrated by Andre Amstutz and focused on the adventures of a family of skeletons, sometimes known as the Funnybones. There was Big ("Senior") Funnybone, (whose catchphrase was "Good idea.",) Little ("Junior") Funnybone, (who was the brains of the outfit, although, just like Big and Little, many characters, like Finny "Goldfish" Funnybone, Pretty-Polly "Parrot" Funnybone, Pretty Bird-Funnybone, Parrot Bones-Funnybone, Hippopotamus Funnybone, Mrs. "Mister" Hoppy "Rabbit" Funnybone the Rabbit, the Sister Rabbits, and Crab Funnybone, and even "Large Funnybone", "Tiny ("Sophomore") Funnybone", "Middle Funnybone", "Small ("Freshman") Funnybone", the Cousin Funnybones, and even Dr. Bones(-Funnybone) and the Twin-In-Law Funnybones and Mr. Bonehead(-Funnybone) and also the Pirates, the Dinosaurs, with Cousin and the Ghosts and Mother Ghost, Brother Ghost Baby Ghost, Sister Ghost and Father Ghost and Ghost Woman and also Niece and, of course, Wishbone, don't have any brains, all, except (Black, Black) Cat ("Those Bones") Funnybone, (Brown, Brown) Duck ("Them Bones") Funnybone, Something Dangerous, who is an octopus, and Nephew, and also Anything Dangerous, who is a gorilla and a cousin to Something, the Fish and, of course, Hedgehog, Purple Monster, Green Monster, Black Monster and also (Big, Big) Storm and the Dark, Dark Clouds, and also Spider Funnybone), and (White White) Dog ("These Bones") Funnybone. Each episode was 5 minutes in length. The voices were provided by popular comedian Griff Rhys Jones who also plays Moon Man, who serves as the narrator in the TV series.

A BBC video entitled "Funnybones - Bumps in the Night" (BBCV 4871) which contained all 12 episodes was released soon after the series ended. The VHS tape was also released in Bulgaria by "Proxima Entertainment".

Miscellaneous
This was one of several cartoons dubbed by the young Irish post-production company Telegael to demonstrate children's-programming possibilities for a proposed Irish-language television station. The resulting series, "Smior agus Smiortán" was broadcast on Ireland's national television station, RTÉ 1 and RTÉ 2, in 1993.
