Bitstamp is one of the more prominent Bitcoin exchanges, and is usually the second biggest or sometimes the biggest exchange in the world based on the volume of trading[3]. Bitstamp generally has a good reputation among the Bitcoin community, and some consider their price to be the "true" price of Bitcoins. The "About" page on their website indicates it is a British company, however the bank that they use to process deposits and withdrawals is Slovenian. Like most other large Bitcoin exchanges, Bitstamp offers an API to aid in automatic or programmatic trading.
