It will also be the third time in the history of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest that the event will be hosted by the previous year's winning country, after Malta won the 2013 edition in Kiev, Ukraine, with the song The Start of Gaia Cauchi.

Рossible return

  •  Cyprus – (CyBC) were in discussions with the EBU as to being the thirteenth country in Junior Eurovision 2013, however after a board meeting an invitation to take part was declined. However due to Cyprus withdrawing from Eurovision 2014, this seems unlikely. [7]
  •  SpainRTVE of Spain said in September, 2013 that they were talking to the EBU about Junior Eurovision and would possibly participate in future contests, if the contest is made more suitable for a younger audience.[8]

Possible debut

  •  Germany[9]Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) sent an observer to Junior Eurovision 2013 to look at the possibility of Germany taking part in the 2014 contest.
  •  Hungary[10] – Hungary also sent an observer to Junior Eurovision 2013, they are looking at taking part in Junior Eurovision 2014.
