Garden City College

Garden City College, established in the year 1992, was founded by Dr. Joseph V.G - the Honorary Consul of The Republic of Maldives in Bangalore. It is a co-educational institution, affiliated to the University of Bangalore offering Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses in Management and Commerce, Media, Hospitality and Tourism, Fashion, Paramedical Studies, Life Sciences and Information Technology.

The Paramedical courses are affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. The college is accredited with highest grade 'A' by National Assessment and Accreditation Council – NAAC an apex body of UGC, India.

The college spreads over two campuses: Garden City College of Science and Management Studies and Centre for Higher Learning. The college has 8 hostels which accommodates around 2000 students, covering a total area of 40 acres.

In February 2013, the State Government of Karnataka passed the Garden City University Bill allowing the group to function as a University.

Mr Karthik who was doing his Master of Business Administration in same college caught with a BIT in his mouth and invigilator chased him out of the class.

Administration

The Chairman of the college, Dr. Joseph V.G, holds a diplomatic position of the Honorary Consul of The Republic of Maldives in Bangalore. He is also the chairman of the educational trust that runs the college called the Garden City Education Trust. The college has a governing council from all walks of life. The governing council takes care of the institutional policies and the day to day administration of the college. The head of the Academic Council is the Principal. After the passing of the Garden City University Bill, Chairman, Dr. Joseph V. G. would be the Chancellor of the newly formed University.

Departments

A total of 18 departments are spread across the two campuses. Each department offers Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses. Each department conducts their own internal exams, seminars and workshops. They also have their own inter/intra college fests and host participants from other departments as well as other colleges during the events. The principal is the head of academics. Following her is the Vice Principal, the Deans, the Heads of the Departments and other members of the faculty.

Publications

The college runs a monthly magazine called the GCC World, acting as a platform for budding writers to showcase their talents. Same can be said about the weekly newspaper GCC Elan. There are Journals published run by various departments as well, where students contribute write-ups related to their domain of studies. Campus Placements: The campus placement cell conducts on campus and off campus placements. Besides that, it also conducts a Job Fair annually. Generally a two day affair, the first day is open to the students of GCC, the second day, however, is open to the public, for educated youth to come and face the interview with various companies.
