"Clockwork" is a song recorded by American country music artist Easton Corbin. It was released in January 2014 as the lead single and title track from Corbin's third album, yet to be announced.
Content
The song tells the story of a guy left struggling after a series of one-night stands with the same woman.[1]The soft-spoken singer plays the role well, delivering another warm, sincere vocal performance. [2]
When asked about the song Corbin stated, “I’m very, VERY excited to have new music out now for my fans. I’m excited especially to release a song like ‘Clockwork...’‘Clockwork’ is a good reflection of my country roots and it shows that I’m growing as an artist. I think when my fans hear this song they will get a good taste of how my upcoming album is going to be.”[1]
Critical reception
Matt Bjorke of 'Roughstock' rated Clockwork 3.5 stars.[3] He states, "as far as lead singles from upcoming albums go, “Clockwork” is the kind of song which SHOULD do well at radio. It has the contemporary melody —there’s even audible steel guitar fills — and a solid vocal from Easton Corbin."
Jonathan Pappalardo of My Kind of Country rated the song B–, stating,"“Clockwork” retains the same narrative Corbin’s been singing for his past few singles... let's hope his upcoming album shows us what Corbin’s really made of."[4]
