My real name is Kurt Schwehr. I am revealing my name to aid in checks on Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest as I have added a number of references to works that I have written or contributed to (e.g. IMO Circ 289 in the AIS page).

I am an engineer at Google on Oceans. I am also an Affiliate Associate professor at the University of New Hampshire in Ocean Engineering, Computer Science, and Earth Science departments with my attachment through the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping. In interest of disclosing possible WP:COI, I work with NOAA on the marine Chart of the Future, NASA JPL on the Phoenix Mars Lander and Cornell on the North Atlantic Right Whale AIS notification project. In the past, I have worked for Carnegie Mellon, NASA Ames, the USGS, and the SETI Institute.

My contributions to Wikipedia have been fairly small so far. Mostly I work on an internal wiki for work that uses MediaWiki and post on my blog.
