Sandown Greyhounds is a greyhound racing track located in Springvale Victoria approximately 35 minutes South East of Melbourne.[1] Racing is held at Sandown Park every Thursday night and Sunday afternoon. Sandown Park hosts the richest greyhound race in the world, the $500,000 Melbourne Cup and also Australia's richest race for stayers the $250,000 Sandown Cup.

Melbourne Cup
The Group 1 Melbourne Cup is the richest and most prestigious greyhound race in the world, the 2014 edition will boast a prize money total of $500,000 with a $350,000 winners cheque, a far contrast from the ₤500 on offer in the first running of the race back in 1956.[2] Trainers Darren McDonald, Graeme Bate and Jason Thompson having the most success, all winning the Melbourne Cup on three occasions.
