James Pearson (born 1 January 1993) is an English footballer who plays as a defender for Leicester City, being deployed either as a center back or a right back[2]. He is part of Leicester City's development squad.

Youth career

Pearson's youth career began at Rotherham United but was released in the summer of 2009[3]. In September 2012, Pearson joined Football League Championship side Leicester City, who are managed by his father Nigel[4], the season before they returned to the Premier League after a ten year absence.

Club career

On 11 March 2014, James joined Carlisle United on loan for the rest of the season, along with Watford's Reece Brown[2]. On 13 March, Pearson made his football league debut, playing the full 90 minutes in a defeat against Sheffield United[5]. He went on to represent Carlisle in a draw against Stevenage and a loss to Notts County[6], before returning to Leicester.

Personal life

Pearson is the son of former Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough defender Nigel Pearson, who now manages Leicester City. James still resides in Sheffield where he was born whilst his father was playing for Sheffield Wednesday. He attended Westbourne School in Sheffield, and Hartpury College in Gloucestershire[3].
