Paid exclusivity is an art, of biggest game companies with big revenues like Microsoft and Sony for example, to pay off developers to bring their games to their console only[1][2]. Main goal to this method is to promote their platforms, but in the process it can hurt people that cannot afford the platform that the game is exclusive too. With the latest example being Tomb Raider. Despite Square Enix being disappointed in their Tomb Raider Sales[3], it was reveled at Gamescom 2014 that sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider will be an Xbox One Exclusive[4], which can easily hurt sales even further, while dissapointing Tomb Raider fans.[5]
