Giovannini Mirror Syndrome is an extremely rare disease thought to have only occured once. It was used for the final diagnosis of the House M.D. episode Mirror Mirror (House). The disease is characterized by a mirroring actions of whoever is around them due to brain damage. Due to the brain damage, they have no memories and take memories based on the environment. It was first conceived in the 1983 film Zelig. The disease is related to Environmental dependency syndrome [1]

It is thought to be because someone has incured severe brain damage, causing no understanding of the person's self to be retained. Therefore they use other people's moral compass and ideals to form a basis for themselves.

Real Life Case

The real life case occurred in Italy by a patient known as 'AD'. According to research digest, "AD assumes the role of a doctor; when with psychologists he says he is a psychologist; at the solicitors he claims to be a solicitor. AD doesn't just make these claims, he actually plays the roles and provides believable accounts for how he came to be in these roles." [2]
