C. Coutney Joyner is a notable author, film script writer, director and an occasional actor. He is also the cousin of actress Allison Mackie.

Author

Among the books he has written are Shotgun a western set in the 1880's,[1] Six Guns and Sleigh Bells and Two Bit Kill. He is a regular column writer for True West Magazine and he regularly contributes to The Round-up, a Western Writers of America’s monthly magazine. He has twice been nominated for the Peacemaker for Best Short Story.[2] At one of the Western Writers of America conferences, chairman Paul Andrew Hutton and Johnny Boggs presented Joyner with an award for "Outstanding Service to Western Writers of America".[3]

Film

In acting roles he has appeared in Iron Thunder and The Flesh Merchant. As a director he has worked on Lurking Fear and Trancers III. His work as a screen writer includes The Offspring, Prison, Lurking Fear, Instinct to Kill and White Rush. [4]

Other contributions

He has provided the audio commentry for the extras section of the 2014 Blu-Ray release of the western classic Companeros [5] and similarly for The Making of the Black Scorpion of the DVD release of The Black Scorpion.[6]
